We’re trying to transition Ben away from the bottles to only sippy cups, and so far it has been a bit of a struggle. Ben likes to drink milk, but I don’t think he has the dependency on it that I was reading about in our parenting books. It’s not as if he goes crazy if he doesn’t get his bottle each day. On the contrary, it seems like he could go a whole day without any milk and not complain about it. But that’s not a good nutrition plan, so we have to try to figure out how to get him to take it from a sippy cup. On Wednesday he drank a whole cup of milk, and yesterday he drank almost a full cup after day care. But today he didn’t want to drink any of his milk — he was pushing the cup away. So it’s a bit of a dilemma: do you hold the line and force him to accept a sippy cup, and have him go with less milk for a while, or do you cave and give him the milk in the bottle because you really want him to have the milk? I’m not quite sure how to handle the situation. Any advice?
